A day in the life of a SLACKER.

Flash flood warnings and record Las Vegas rain. It has been an unusual wet year for us in Vegas. Which is great since Lake Mead is about 50 ft below the normal level. Plus, with the water bill doubling since last year, every chance you get to turn off the spinkers is nice.

If you follow me on Instagram of Facebook, you see that I drive my classics. My 66 has only been towed once and that was after I blew the rear end on the freeway. As of late, I drive my 1948 Buick the most. Usually reserved for Fridays and weekends or anytime it’s not over 100 degrees. My daily driver, once again decided it needed a 2 week vacation. For the next few weeks the Buick will be my new daily.

Last nite and this morning the rain has been coming down hard. This is not the firs time I drove the Buick in rain, but with the original paint and all that chrome, cleaning off the rain and mudd can be a chore. Good news, the bias ply tires drove nice on freeway even though you couldn’t see the lanes and of course you have people flying by at 95 MPH. As you may know, our dirt doesn’t soak up water, so ever other street has a road river running thru it. I just picked up a new 6 volt battery since mine died last week. Well, as you know 6 volt bulbs don’t light up the roads well. My only concern was that those behind me could see my 6 volt tail lights. Only problem was the vacuum wipers, they only go up half way, but that is better than not working at all.

All in all, good day. I have a few bucks in my pocket, a means of transportation and I’m healthy.
